Master in Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology

Course Presentation

The main objective of the Master in Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology is to promote the understanding of the models, theories and techniques of Developmental Psychology and Developmental Psychopathology. This program aims to foster students critical and reflexive thinking about human development, apprehending relevant theoretical models and empirical data that will contribute to a better understanding of adaptative and inadaptative developmental pathways.
The knowledge acquired during the program will give the students the necessary bases to conduct assessment, prevention and intervention practices in different developmental contexts, keeping the relationship between the patterns of psychological functioning in each developmental stage, the neuropsychological base and the relational aspects in mind.
It is also intended that students are capable to design, conduct and evaluate research projects that will allow the constant association between intervention and science.

 

Key Learning Outcomes

  • This Master intends to train psychologists specialized in Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology with strong knowledge about relevant theoretical models and empirical data that sustain
    assessment, prevention and intervention practices in different developmental contexts.
    Thus, the student should:
    1. Acquire and improve knowledge about the main models of typical and atypical developmental processes.
    2. Acquire skills that allow understanding and analyzing critically research data framed in theoretical models.
    3. Acquire the ability to apply scientific knowledge and analytic skills to prevention and intervention practice.
    4. Acquire skills that allow designing, conducting and evaluating applied and fundamental scientific researches.
    5. Acquire skills to design prevention and intervention projects in different developmental contexts.
